In contrast, dubstep deviates from those beats and operates, well, off-beat. And to some, this may be a form of electronic rebellion. South Park even made an episode about dubstep and that is a medium that specifically targets the youth. Furthermore, collective youth mentality can overshadow the conflicting thoughts and opinions of young adults and adults.
Ergo, a dubstep epidemic can spread quickly! But in contrast, perhaps youth band together to enjoy dubstep because the youth is easily persuadable… and being easily persuaded is something that the corporate fatheads feed off of. The media: And when those corporate fatheads were sitting around thinking about the next sound to push onto the masses, what happened? Britney Spears used dubstep. Snoop Dogg used dubstep. And the list of musicians that used dubstep in their post music goes on.
Sooner or later dubstep will become a thing of the past and another genre will supersede it, which brings up the question on what genre will then become popularized?

Like any popular genre, it tends to get a little samey after awhile. It was the same thing with Trance back in the day, I used to shit from all my friends for being into it too.

They liked it before it was popular and are over it now.
It's just different, and I kind of wish it had gotten a different name. It makes discussion much harder. For some people, dubstep means grimy wobblebass, and that's it. Here's my take on it and I have been involved professionally with EDM for 13 years.
Dubstep on its own as a style is fine but many of us, myself included, are tired of hearing about it every five freaking seconds. And I am tired of people, especially younger folks, thinking it's the only kind of EDM in the world. And I am tired of nearly every single YouTube instrument review and tutorial talking about how it can also "make dubstep wobbles".
