I have Suggested Contacts on, with only 2 in it, and auto-complete on with those 2 plus my other contacts. Removing the 2 from the Suggested Contacts did not remove them the the auto-complete. Suggested contacts is a new feature that creates contacts for addresses you send mail to when the address is not already in your address books. This has been a much requested featured over the years, although it tends to result in a contacts folder filled with addresses you'll never need.
With the introduction of the auto-complete list in Outlook , we saw many, many users who used the auto-complete list as their address book. They never saved the addresses to contacts and if the NK2 file became corrupted, they lost the addresses.
So how do I do this on my iPhone 4S? I'm aware that Suggested Contacts can be turned on and off, but when I find more details of a Suggested Contact, I add in their phone number, but can't then find a way to move their record into my 'actual' Contacts List? For editing or viewing any contact details in the Suggested Contacts folder you can double click on the contact name. A window displaying all the contact details will pop open. Here you can add personal information of the contact like full name, picture, company details, display name, telephone numbers, send OneNote, add business card, etc.
You can even schedule meeting or call the user if you are signed to an instant messaging application and if both the user and your system environments support these features. All those unwanted email ids will be stored in your suggested contacts list and it may seem unnecessary to record them since you have a record in Sent Items as well.
In such cases you may prefer to do without the Suggested Contacts folder. By default this option will be enabled. Once this option is disabled no more contacts will be added to the Suggested Contacts folder but the existing Suggested Contacts remain.
This means it is searched when looking for contacts or addresses. There are various ways to stop syncronization of the Suggested Contacts folder — most of them depend on your particular device and sync software. However the easiest way is probably in Outlook itself. This will remove the Suggested Contacts folder as a Contact folder as shown above. It should also prevent most sync software seeing it as a contacts folder that needs copying. Sadly when one person posts some wrong info, it gets copied by others without checking.
