There are no doctors, nurses, or lawyers with a criminal record. These people, rolemodels, make big money because they worked DAMNED hard and long for it; the legal, morally correct, socially productive, and helpful way. Talk about a dejecting walk down misery, memory lane. It is a stark reminder of the fact that there still are, unfortunately, large groups of people who TRULY do not care about their neighbor, family, friends.
The miserable collective teaming-up is self serving only, and because of that utter and complete selfishness many lives are disrupted, destroyed, and ultimately lost. All the comments above. Ghettos claim that the man holds them back. True to a certain extent in the past. Nowdays the only thing keeping this cycle going is a complete lack of caring for one another. Inconsideration and selfishness. Refusal to take the long road home. I pray for an end to all this sadness, loss, and untimely death.
Unfortunately it is simply going to keep on and on until those that are in this situation make the personal decision to break the cycle. No one said it easy. I am a testament to that fact. Mayne,im not from the streets.. This is how they live, talk dress. Once again- the people and scenarios can not be duplicated. They was really there living that movie-. This movie portrays total scumbags with no excuse. Sucks people think they are cool…. On some real shit, you can never get raw hood people to act that genuine, period.
Get real. The people was real, but this is about 90 percent re-enactment, or just totally staged. One part was even a straight up lie, his baby momma is alive and well today, never having been shot. What a load of crap to feed an audience. This is everyday life down here in Georgia. This is a portrayal of Life in urban Atlanta. I feel that Curtis has shed a light on a community that is poverty stricken and isolated.
When you know better you do better, but this is an example of the result of not knowing. This is really some peoples realty. The movie was great! It was informative and Raw. I would like to know Where Curtis is Now. Just watched this movie, and wow was it realistic. It took me back to my days living in the hood. Guns, drive by shootings, drugs. Pretty much spot on! Lived in the Bluff 35 years ago. Real or not, this is a true depiction of what life was like. Every kid in the bluff had seen enough bodies laying in the street that they have become desensitized to murder.
Great job on the movie. It is a shame that people in the bluff as in many other neighborhoods in the US are so alienated and hopeless to the American dream that this type of life seems normal. Wow what a load of crap. To compare this to city of God is a joke. You reap what you sow people. People like this give a bad name to the real people that work and live in the ghetto and just try to get by day by day. Most them fools should be locked up since all they do is sell drugs and bring their neighborhood down.
I know this happens in every hood. I understand the way of life is an undieing circle trap. But what was stopping him from getting a low income job to gain a skill, that he could later use to get a better income job?

He describes a Black woman whom he says is upset by the racism and police brutality that is impacting the Black community and ignorant behavior displayed by Black people amid the current civil unrest.
