Mental game, which I had maintained better than I ever had before, was now just a memory and I was done. So, I walked the rest of the way — with very few spots of running — back to the Fargodome for the finish. Seeing the Fargodome and eventually going back down the ramp and into the building was the highlight of my day. This was definitely not my best effort, but I went out there and finished what I set out to do.

Another great perk of the hotel being so close is I knew exactly how much further I had to go until I could relax in my bed and get a shower. It was really great getting to catch up and hear about your new experiences in Fargo!

Sunday morning brought unexpected additional miles as the hotel shuttle was not available for my super early flight. This was actually nice as it 1 helped keep my legs from being super sore the rest of the day and 2 I was treated to a beautiful sunrise. As my first flight was boarding, I found myself sitting behind Fitz Koehler — the announcer and starter for Fargo Marathon race weekend! We had the chance to chat before takeoff and again during our layover in Minneapolis and I learned about her fitness journey, her adventures in writing and race announcing, and also her battle with breast cancer.

The community is incredibly friendly and this event provides the feeling of running a much larger race in a much more intimate setting. You are commenting using your WordPress. Notify me of new comments via email. Notify me of new posts via email. Flat Preston ready to go. Never coming back to Fargo for a race again. Friendly in Fargo! The race sweatshirt was great this year and I also like the drawstring gear bag and medal. The biggest factor during the race this year was the wind, but the course is pretty curvy, so there were stretches where we got a break from it or even a tailwind.

It's also as flat as advertised, and the stretches along the Red River and through the two college campuses were really nice. Aid stations were well-stocked with labeled tables, there were lots of port-o-johns, and I thought a good number of enthusiastic spectators for the size of the city.

You also can't beat real bathrooms with sinks! We ended up renting a car, but saw race shuttles lining up right on time and returning after the race. We celebrated afterwards with Sandy's Donuts and burgers at Sickie's, both of which we'd recommend, along with the Country Inn and Suites.

Uff da, go run Fargo! Flat course, good swag, but not much scenery about: Course: 2 Organization: 4 Fans: 3 R. While I would recommend this race, it did not live up to all the hype.

I participated in the 'GoFar' challenge and ran the 5k on Friday night and the marathon on Saturday morning. The expo was very convenient and well laid out. The sweatshirt, t-shirt, and bag you receive were top notch items.

It is so nice not to get another technical running shirt as I have a ton already. Left the expo satisfied, checked into the hotel, and got myself ready for the 5k. The 5k was well organized and there were big signs showing where to start based on projected finish time. However, many bad parenting decisions as we had year old kids lined up for the sub 20 minute 5k time? I ran the event in and had to weave past all this at the beginning. No big deal - finished the event, got my medal, and left.

The run itself was flat as advertised and while nobody's fault, very windy. The scenery of the course was quite boring compared to other states I've accomplished. However, running through NDSU was kind of cool. Most of the race is run in residential neighborhoods. I did give the spectators 3 stars as there were quite a few out, especially as the day wore on.

I finished the event, grabbed my marathon medal and went to look for my 'GoFar' medal for completing the back to back events.

I am given a bottle opener instead. I am told this was a change this year. I say something to a woman in a race committee lanyard and she says she'll pass my comments along? It's really not about the medals but when you are promised something and then given no heads up - it's easy to get mad.

The wind took a lot out of me and running the 5k the night prior led to a rough day of running. At this point, I grabbed some of the snacks and left No Mylar blanket at the end, no beer, but there was the warmth of the dome so that was good.

This was my tenth state completed and while I still think it's the best choice in ND, it ranks near the bottom of the states I've finished. There might have been a couple small 'hills' in addition to the dike wall hill around mile 17, but otherwise very flat. The course preview video was very nice for an out of towner. Great course support and ample aid stations, although some didn't really match up well with the course map. No better way to complete your marathon than by being inside the dome!

The CVB is your top resource! There are showers available for your use inside the Fargodome. These are located just in the hallway that runs parallel to the finish line chute. Signs will be set up to help you find them. The full and half marathon courses in Fargo have these stop located approximately every two miles. A variety of flavors will be available, including chocolate, salted caramel, strawberry banana, and vanilla.

The medal will be different for each event. Bags will be available for all participants…and, of course, the Bag Drop! There will be a support vehicle traveling behind the slowest finishers. There is excellent parking at the Fargodome and surrounding areas, we also have a shuttle bus service. Powerade Mountain Berry Blast is the official sports drink of the marathon. Water stations are located approximately every 2 miles on the course. We use disposable chips that are attached to your bib.

They do not need to be turned in after the race. They should also not be torn off your bib. Below are the current locations from where shuttle buses will be picking up people. Shuttle buses will depart from the above locations am on Saturday morning and will continue until am. Shuttle buses will also be taking runners back to these locations leaving from the Fargodome on a regular basis from am until pm on Saturday afternoon. All runners with a bib number are allowed on the bus at no charge.
