AIG makes it VERY easy to sign up for the insurance, but such a hassle to actually file a claim that I ended up going to the hotel and airline direct and getting room refunded and flight credited. When trying to file my claim they ask for all kinds of proof of bad weather. They ask you to upload that proof with all kinds of other information. Are they serious!!! It was a major hurricane that hit Louisiana during the time I was scheduled to travel.

If they need me to jump Thru hoops for something that obvious I can only imagine what it would be like for other reasons. Bottom line…. DO NOT waste money with this company. For some government unexpected rules our boarding was denied and they did not pay. It is nothing but another profit making scam for AIG and Travelocity or any of the other travel companies. I ended up with a travel voucher from the airline which I could have received without the insurance.

The insurance leads you to believe that illness of a family member not involved in your flight can be a reason to cancel flight. With the push of a key you can purchase this insurance but trying to file a claim is a major under-taking. I sincerely recommend that you contact the airline about their cancellation policy before buying this insurance.

I bought insurance for a trip to the Santa Barbara, CA area. We are two retired school teachers living on a retirement income. MY claim was for around Two or three days before the trip I hurt my feet with a first degree burn and had doctor documentation stating so.

I submitted everything required and they said I didn't. I redid it again. Now today they say that I have no claim. MY feet were was burnt that I could not walk for three days and even now after a couple of weeks it is extremely hard to walk. They said I had to be hurt while on the trip. Trip interruption, for example, is very narrowly defined. Same thing for trip cancellation: you can cancel your trip for a limited number of covered reasons, but if the airline cancels your route, that's not covered.

Interesting loophole in one policy we saw: if a family member say, your son gets injured in an amateur sporting event say, a football game you won't be covered if you decide to cancel your trip. For full default coverage with fewer but by no means no loopholes, you need to buy AIG Travel Guard's more expensive standard and then add an upgrade that includes coverage not only for situations in which the airline might suddenly disappear, but also acts of terrorism and pre-existing medical conditions.

Bottom line? Spirit's can be called, politely, minimal. You need emergency cash. You need a new passport. You need someone who can get things done fast. Who is that someone? Uh oh. That means a medical evacuation. Your extended family has been planning the annual reunion for months. But hours before you take off, your sister-in-law gets too sick to go.

So everyone decides to cancel. What happens to your non-refundable deposits or pre-payments? Who can help with reimbursement? You arrive in Jamaica, but your luggage doesn't. Who will find it? Who will pay for your travel necessities until you are reunited with your beloved bag?

The trip sounded amazing, so you booked it. If you are an agent, but do not yet have access to Agentlink, contact your account representative to setup your account today.
