With my doctor's guidance and my research this is what i did to make the change: For the first three days, remove two 2 grains of medication from the capsule.
The next three 3 days, remove 4 grains from the capsule. The next three 3 days, remove 6 grains from the capsule; and so on until you are off the medication. Hi, I am posting this for my 21 yr. He is in college and he had extreme anxiety and depression and was put on Cymbalta. He's been taking it for about a month.
He complains to me that he yawns constantly, is really drowsy, almost to the point where he falls asleep at random times and it's upsetting him. However, his anxiety and depression are much better. I looked up the side effects of Cymbalta and these are not very common ones, so I don't know what to tell him.
All the recommended protocols I've found suggest completely tapering off the old drug before starting the new one so you can tell if you're suffering withdrawal side effects or side effects of the new drug. It's very hard to tell if the new drug will work or not if you're feeling strong side effects which might be the old drug and have nothing to do with the new one.
