In some cases, this pain is due to an inflammation of the extensor tendons, resulting in a condition called foot extensor tendinopathy or "tendonitis. Steroid injections are useful for short-term pain relief and increased mobility, but are not necessarily a long-term solution. In some rare cases, they could even cause your weakened tendon to tear. Try physical therapy if your doctor recommends it. Physical therapists will give you stretches and strengthening exercises tailored to your injury, be it to your hands or feet.
